Savoie Mont-Blanc, a rich heritage

Savoie Mont-Blanc is marked by a rich heritage. The Abbaye Hautecombe is a beautiful site that we recommend you discover by boat, embarking at the Great Port of Aix-les-Bains. The cruise will take you to the Abbey, then to the Savières Canal (discover the very beautiful village of Chanaz), enabling you to admire the beauty of the lake and its treasures.

At the foot of the Massif des Bauges, the Château de Miolans is a listed historic monument, a 12th century fortress that became the official prison of the Dukes of Savoie. The Château is open for tours all year long

Savoie Mont-Blanc, a sports destination

In Savoie Mont-Blanc, you can also discover or re-discover many sports activities in the air: there are lots of takeoff sites in Coeur des Bauges and Savoie Grand Revard, as well as activities on land with walking tours, cycling, mountain biking and horse riding, not to mention boating. Fans of golfing? The Aix-les-Bains golf range will provide you with some beautiful rounds.
In winter, the two resorts at Coeur des Bauges welcome you for downhill skiing at your own pace or cross-country skiing in the snow-covered forests. Snowshoeing will also enable you to discover some very beautiful snowy landscapes. Nearby, two other resorts will welcome you: Semnoz and its beautiful view of Lake Annecy and Mont Blanc and  Sambuy near Faverges.

Savoie Mont-Blanc, a gourmet destination

Savoie Mont-Blanc also rhymes with gourmet delights! Tome des Bauges cheese, of course, but there are also lots of other cheese specialties to discover, under protected designations: Abondance, Emmental de Savoie, Reblochon, Chevrotin, Beaufort, Tomme de Savoie. Don’t hesitate to take the “Savoie Cheese Route" and meet the farmers behind these quality products. Farm visits, snacks on the farm, guided hiking tours related to this farming theme, games... all these activities will enable you to discover the local specialties. More info on www.fromagesdesavoie.fr.

To accompany these treats, the wines of Savoie are not to be missed. To consume with moderation, of course, but especially to appreciate. Two areas are labelled "Vineyards and discoveries". A visit to the Chautagne Cellar or meeting the winemakers of Combe de Savoie will allow you to discover local wines such as Chignin-Bergeron, Mondeuse or Gamay de Savoie
